Objective

To design a ceramic vessel using rapid-prototyping technology, while eliciting an emotional connection.

From its beginnings in Paris in the early 20th century, the Art Deco movement was a response to an era of rapid development of technology and the innovative use of new materials. Simplicity in forms, sweeping lines, and streamlining gave the movement an appeal that shocked convention, but captivated high society. Now we do the same with the developing technologies of rapid prototyping and ceramics, but with a contemporary edge – harkening back to a bygone era. Vitreo takes cues from the glamour and graphic appeal of the Art Deco.
